This week the Campus schools will hold our Maori Graduation, a special event where we acknowledge student achievement at the three schools and celebrate their moving to the next stage in their education. This year the celebration will take place at Mount Roskill Grammar School in the Butler Hall.

Over the next few weeks your child will be involved in end of year testing. This will help provide important information to support our Reporting against National Standards and the progress that your child has made in theirlearning. This will also be the Year 8 Placement testing for students attending MRGS. Students will be revising their learning in class. Please talk to your child about what they are working on with their learning and what they feel they need to practise and revise at home as they lead up to this assessment time. Your child’s progress will be reported to you at the end of the term. Please feel free to contact your child’s teacher with any questions you may have.

Coming up on 30 October, to celebrate Diwali, is the MRGS fundraiser. Our talented dancers will perform, along with other campus students and community groups. More information is available under the community notices section. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased from the school office.

Our School Production, ‘Superman’, is also coming up in a few weeks. This is a fantastic demonstration of the amazing talent of our students. Tickets will be available for purchase through the school office from Monday, 2nd November.

We are currently having a new website developed along with a school app that you will be able to download onto your smart phone or tablet. This will enable easy communication between home and school which can help in areas such as reporting absences, updating details and receiving school notifications. You can download this, for free, onto all smart phones and tablets. We will send you the link when it is available.

We have a fantastic school that I am very proud to be a part of. Our Board of Trustees are committed to ensuring that Mount Roskill Intermediate is a safe, high achieving school.

Every day it makes my heart sing to see the special place that we have here, the amazing, talented students and staff who work so hard to ensure that every child makes the most progress that they can. You only need to walk through the playground or classrooms to see engaged, happy students and feel the ‘buzz’ of learning. Thank you for supporting us by sending your child to MRI, and working with us.

Next year will see two additional classrooms added to ensure that class sizes are kept at optimum levels for learning and engagement.
